want the ultra blue lights

What or how does one get those ultra blue white lights instead of those old incandescants? I want it to look as stock as possible but I want those new bulbs.

What are the issues involved?

As I understand, you can only do that with the halogen bulb inserts. Haven't seen the the old "yellow" bulb conversions. I like your idea, I've thought about it myself. :)

I'm pretty sure you can replace the incandecents with drop in halogen sealed beams, what year/stly of lights are you talking about? You can visit a bunch of webs on automotive lighting and choose your poison.

You can check some of the big supplier catalogs, like Exklers, etc. -- I know they have the "Lemans lighting kits" for the C5 with halogen, assume they have them for others. Some of these kits get expensive and complicated -- they actually have fans to cool the bullbs, etc., so shop around if the price of the first one you see puts you off.

I've seen them, but they are way expensive to do it right. You can go with halogen replacement sealed bulbs as someone else said. I did that with mine to get some brighter headlights. Total cost about $30-40 or so.

If you want the "projector" bulbs, or HID, you are looking at $500-1000 depending on the quality of the kit. They require a ballast setup, and lots of new wiring. Your old headlight circuits probably won't handle the load well. One kit that I checked out used the stock wiring to a relay circuit that turned on the bulbs. This allowed them to fade on/off, which is supposed to extend the life of the bulbs. The HID itself was powered by a fused direct line to the battery, or to the power block side of the fuse panel, using 10g wiring. I just replaced a ballast on the Navigator to the tune of $600... The bulbs are also quite expensive, $100-150 each.

bill.

Take a look at this site. It’s my favorite for all lighting needs http://autolumination.com
