sticky mess on the console

Recently purchased a 94 base model and the console and the panel up around the radio have sort of a rubberized coating on it. I wondered if that’s original or not? Because mine has turned into an uncleanable sticky mess and it is peeling in some areas. I’m not sure how to go about cleaning it or removing it?

Sticky Mess

That is original and you are experiencing what happens to the interior pieces with age and use. Some people strip the rubber coating off. I don't believe there is any way to repair the mess. A lot of the parts are discontinued by GM and are very hard to find. Good luck and let us know what you do to yours.
