Hi! 1968 Coupe in Silicon Valley Here
Hi all!
I can't beleive that I just found these forums, they were listed in Corvette Fever mag. I received my '68 Shark coupe with a 427 as a Christmas present from my wife 2 years ago. I spent a while driving my Shark around doing what small repairs were needed to keep it on the road. Visually it was in good shape, but as I drove it mechanically I realized that it needed a lot of work. Last summer I started seriously working on the car. I had many surprizes as I pulled it apart, there are cracks in the frame and some of the under dash wiring had band-aids holding the wires together. There were many screws and bolts missing or just loose as well. I am still working out exactly what I want to do with the car but so far I have decided to get a round tube replacement frame with C5 suspension and of course I am going to keep a big block under the hood. I have looked around and am thinking of going with a Bill Mitchell Merlin Hard Core crate engine and a T56 6 speed. I have a long way to go yet and a fair bit of negotion with the wife for the $$$ on this project. I am hoping to do most of the work myself. Wish me luck! Andrew |
