new 99 FRC owner: photos + 1 question

Hello,
I' new to corvetteforums.
I bought a 99 C5 FRC from its original owner's widow. It had less than 9,000 miles and seems to be in better condition than a 04 Z06 I had test driven at a dealership.
I really love this car (Below are 2 pictures of it). However, I wonder why it takes so much force to shift. I don't think this has anything to do with the clutch or synchros being bad because it happens even when the car is at rest and the engine is not running. Can something be done about it? I've had 7 other manual transmission cars before from either Japan or Europe and they were all much easier to shift than this 99 FRC. I'd be really grateful if someone could offer some suggestions.
Thanks a lot.

RE: new 99 FRC owner: photos + 1 question

First off welcome to the forums. I just purchased my car a little over a month ago (98 couple with 22,225 miles on it). I have the same problem; really hard to shift. I was going to replace my trans fluid and put in Royal Purple to see if that helps. I'll let you know what happens when I make the shift.

P.S. another thing for me to take into consideration is I think my car has a short throw shifter in it. And by the way what part of Maryland are you in, I'm in Glen Burnie.

Do you have a stock shifter or has that been replaced? I had a B&M Ripper put in my car and it was very very stiff -- took A LOT of effort -- for the first 2000 miles, as it wore in. Now its a pit better but tight. Maybe the former owner had one put in and just never put neough miles on it.
