New Guy from NC. BMW 325 vs. 1998 Vette.

Hello to everyone here, my name is Rod from Fayetteville NC.
The reason why I signed up in this forum is because I've got a big dilemma that doesn't let me sleep. You see;
I know a guy (not my friend) that wants to swap my mint 2002 BMW sport package E-46 white Convertible with 40k miles for his esthetically mint 1998 red Corvette (C5) with 45k miles plus 1000 bucks. :confused:

He says the only reason is that he's too old for a red Vette (he is 53, gimme a break) and wants something more "serious"

The Vette is mint, I mean not a scratch, 20 inch vette chromed rims Good year new tires etc. etc. The catch is that it's got the "check engine, with the info crawler (service engine soon) , the ABS waring lights on" He claims it's nothing and that he fixes the problem only to reappear soon after.

I've been surfing the web and I found out that it's a recurring problem with the '98 Vettes.... and I found another one; that the steering lock gives serious problems, and dangerous ones.

I really like the Vette, but my BMW, is mint too, only the brake pad light is always on and I it's got an ugly patch on the soft top due to a theft attempt. Other than that it gives me no trouble at all.

I wonder if he only wants to get rid of a problem car, (?)

Any opinions?

Thanks to all.

Well, no answers is an answer: NO confidence in your Vettes.

I really don't think it's a "confidence" issue. Your kind of question usually doesn't elicit a lot of responses. Especially not in a few hours. From an objective point of view a truly informed response would take a ton or research plus typically the asker has already made up his mind and is looking for affirmation. So here it is: You did the right thing by staying with your known problems!

You made your decision and then snipe at us for no responces?
Personally, I'm glad you choose not to join our brotherhood.
You failed the test.
