Hey. I recenlty retrieved an '84 from a "broken home" which included a significant dose of acetone on the "clear Targa top"
My intent is for this to be a daily driver and is mostly presentable as is for a 183M car. I am almost afraid to ask, but, since the acid ate into the top in about 20 splotches, is it possible to paint this top and have the paint stay on? With not much to lose, I have lightly sanded a couple of test spots and feel that the right primer could fill the spots. I'd rather not spend the money on a replacement until I feel the car is really road worthy. Any suggestions? Thanks, Randy |

Welcome to the site and congrats on your new project. I'm not sure how long the paint will stay or how well it will hold-up, but if you are just trying to hang on to it until some of your other restorations are done, it should be fine for a temp. fix.

Welcome to CF!:)
IMO, if you prep the surface, like you would for any other paint job, you may be surprised how well it will hold up. |

Welcome. The top is acryllic. Check with automotive paint store for some sort of etching primer that will stick to the acryllic. After that, standard base/clear. [8D]
