Oil PRESSURE IS AT 80
HI,
I just heard about this Forum this week from a Co-worker. So I joined today! I just started my Vette (97) today after a long winters nap. While driving it I noticed the oil pressure gauge was at 80 pds. Is some thing wrong with my gauge or is the gauge is stuck? |
welcome. someone here should know

Couple of questions.
1. Does it return to zero when shut off? 2. Does it zero out when the sending unit is unplugged while running? 3. Is there any variation at all when running at different rpm when hot? |

The pressure gauge does go back to Zero when car is off I did not try to unplug the sending unit (don't know how to do that? I did run the car for a few minutes but did not get engine warm enough to see if the gauge would move off 80. Thanks will check on the car in a few days. |

Everyone should have a shop manual for their car. It helps with locating things too. Once you find the oil pressure sensor usually they have a wire that just pulls off. I would love to tell you where to look but my cars aren't that new.
It's possible that you may have to replace the sending unit, but do give it a chance to warm up. |
Will check into the issue soon.
