cadilac problems
ok so heres whats up my buddy has a 94 cadillac sedan deville hes blowing white smoke and gas out the pipes and gas in the oil. we think one of the injectors is stuck open and is forcing fuel past the piston rings and into the oil. and what dosent go thrugh the rings and isnt burned off is getting pushed thrugh the exaust. we are looking for any other possibilities and mabye a easy fix.

RE: cadilac problems
Gas in the oil, and white smoke.....I'm thinkin' head gasket. The fuel could be blowing into an oil passage between the head and block, on the compression stroke, and drawing oil into the cyl., on the intake stroke.
Bad rings?....They will do pretty much the same thing. Any oil in the radiator, or water in the oil? This would be a def indicater of a bad head gasket. Do a compression test, dry and wet. If compression doesn't change after a wet test, I would think it's the head gasket. Look at your spark plugs too, to see if any are oil fouled. I would think the engine would be missing on at least one cyl., thereby putting unburned fuel out through the exhaust. That's my best guess. |
RE: cadilac problems
Yep, white smoke almost always equals a blown head gasket.

RE: cadilac problems
theres no water or rad fluid in the oil just gas and the reason im thinking its not a head gasket is because you would have a problem with overheating and it sounds great when its running we havent had any of the plugs off yet so it might be a dead cylinder. ill keep ya posted...thanks

RE: cadilac problems
You can blow a head gasket and not hit a water port, but can hit an oil passage. Ya, keep us informed and we'll help all we can.

RE: cadilac problems
Late 80's and early 90's Caddy's with the aluminum V8 were notorious for intake gaskets leaking water into the crankcase. Replaced intake gaskets on a bunch of them. [8D]

RE: cadilac problems
so do you thnk the intake gaskets could be the problem?

RE: cadilac problems
Not if there isn't any water in the oil!
