Dodge charger SRT
I was driving home from work, guy was tailing me and wanted to get into the left lane really bad as far as I could tell. He ended up getting into the left lane and next to me, I looked over and it was a decked out charger the srt or what ever the 425 hp one is called. I know he was thinking hmmmmm C5, I could blow him off the road. We ended up racing from a 10 mph roll which was to his advantage and I walked him like he was parked; after the race he rolled down his window and all he said was "thats f^ckin fast. If it would have been from a dig it would have been a lot worse. He ended up being a real nice guy, seemed just a little older than me. Anyone else think a stock c5 could take an srt charger? They weigh in around 4000 pounds and have about 425 rated hp.

RE: Dodge charger SRT
I would think that a 3000 lb car with 400hp (z06 7.9 lbs/hp) would smoke a 4000 lb car with 425 hp (srt8 9.8 lbs/hp). A stock c5 coupe would be closer at around 9.4 lbs/hp. I would also think that gearing would be a big factor. The dodge has a final drive ratio of 3.06:1, so I think that the C5 would still come out ahead. But really it's not an apples to apples comparison.
And of course your s/c z06 will make him check to see if he is in reverse. :D :D :D :D |
RE: Dodge charger SRT
I think the question was about a stock C5. 345 or 350 HP. And a standard 'vette coupe, C5 or C6,weighs in closer to 3250 lbs - maybe 3450 with driver: 10 lbs/HP. A 425 HP, 4000 lb car with say, a 200 lb driver, would be right at the same 10 lbs/HP. It would be very close but I would pick the vette for several reasons: traction (the vette has more tire/lb or tire/HP) among them, and if the six-speed, better gearing. It would be close.
A stock C5 ZO6 would be less close. Mine weighed 3085 lbs new, and with 405 HP and a 200 lb driver, has 8.1 lbs/HP: nearly 20% better. The C5 ZO6 transmission is also much better ratios thru the gears for racing (steet or otherwise). A stock C6 would be nearly the same (a bit more weight, insignificantly less power, not quite as good gear ratios, but none of that would not matter) |
