future resale value??

Been in love with Corvettes since a young boy and will FINALLY become a first time owner around the first of the year 2020 (retiring from the military after 22 years). I am struggling with the decision of which Corvette to buy. Particularly in reference to resale value in 10-15 years. Due to progressive medical reasons it will become difficult to comfortably enter and exit the car by then. If I don't pass it on to my son it will need to go to a new owner whether it is a private sale, auction or dealer trade.

I am torn between a '02-'04 C5 Z06 and a '15-'16 C7 Stingray 2LT w/ Z51 package. From my understanding a classic car is defined as a desirable car that is 20 years old or more. Although the 20 year mark would certainly be a very young "classic" car. With that in mind, if the 20yr info is correct, will the C5 Z06 be of more value or the newer C7? Both being at or under 100k miles in similar condition. I understand there are other factors that can influence my question so I am looking for your best answers with this limited info. Thank you in advance for all your comments.

If you are worried about resale value, then I would pickup a C6 ZR-1 instead as these were produced in way less quantity than either the ZO6 or the current C7 Stingray.

Thanks for the reply Extender. Was starting to wonder if I posted in the wrong section. Unfortunately I am not a fan of the C6 body style at all. To me it kind of looks like a made in China hot wheels knock off. That's just me, I know I am weird.

The C6 has many improvements over the C5 and most C5/6 owners don't care much for the C7 as the ass end looks too much like a Camaro; myself included and the C7 has had a lot of transmission issues. Something to consider.

Yes, I understand what you are saying about the C6. I haver had plenty of friends over the years with C4's,C5's,C6's and C7's. I have rode in and driven them alI, so I get it, I have done plenty of research on the C5, C6 and C7 and have kept up with Corvette since the 80's. I do not care for the C6 at all, it's a fine car but I have my reasons. Anyway, do you have anything to contribute to my initial question about resale value between the C5 Z and C&7? Thanks in advance for any contributing information.

No, I do not have anything to add about resale value. I would suggest looking at Cargurus, Edmonds, or Kelly Blue Book to see what they are trending in resale values. Another good place to look would be Hagerty.com for collector car values.

Thank you, I will definitely look into some of that.
