Channel Manager: Autos

Are you passionate about cars and genuinely enthusiastic about the many and diverse subcultures that exist to celebrate them? Are you immersed in the automotive world as either a creator or participant in an online community? Then this is an opportunity to crack the code on broadband video by producing the most unique and compelling online video product of its kind for the automotive world.

Current TV and a top-tier broadband portal are getting ready to launch a premier online video network based on user-generated content. We’re looking for an entrepreneurial dynamo to help shape the creative vision and programming for what will be the Web’s highest quality, and highest trafficked, viewer created broadband platform for everything automotive.

This is an opportunity to work with one company that is revolutionizing television and another that has already revolutionized the Web. This is a role that demands a strong creative vision, leadership, and a talent for producing a lot with a little.

Responsibilities

• Develop the programming for a broadband video channel all about cars and the people who love them.
• Work with Current’s A+ television production teams to develop daily news features and other short-form video programming.
• Work closely with expert community managers and online marketers, to inspire, cultivate and reward a large community of online viewer producers.
• Manage the screening of user-generated video submissions and greenlight the best submissions for broadband channel inclusion and possibly televised broadcast.
• Evangelize broadband channel concept with partner teams and develop opportunities for increased promotion, distribution, and sponsorship

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of and passion for all things automotive
• Entrepreneurial, energetic and willing to roll up your sleeves to launch a new product
• Enthusiastic and effective communicator, capable of working with various aspects of convergent media including TV, web, marketing, and promotions
• Experience in “do-it-yourself” video production, especially producing, shooting, and editing preferred
• Knowledge of and contacts within various automotive communities a plus
• Working knowledge of trendsetting websites and blogs critical to these communities
• Highly organized
• Effective communicator
• Strong leadership skills, but with the overall attitude of a team player
