Might sell the vette...

Ok guys here it is... i know im gonna keep my car till atleast fall of this year... and prolly will keep it till right after summer of next year... and i had big plans of modding it, but i really just dont see the point... i have a car that in a few years i can prolly get $17.5k to $20k for... so i take that with the money ive save up (prolly like $15k) byt the time i rid myself of it and put that towards something else... what do yall think... for what i can get a c6 for i could get a gen II viper (2000 and up for sure) and since its nowhere near my daily i think the Viper would suit me much better...

dont get me wrong the vette is a nice car and i love the way it drives and the power it has... but its not a viper... i can get a Gen III vert for about the same price, but i just like the hard top soooo much better. and the older ones look alot meaner...

the vette just doesnt have the POP i want... yeah yeah yeah... its not about grabbing attention, but really its nice to have that attentiong... Oh and ill be like 26ish when i make the purchase... so it might be the last time i get a chance to do something this stupid...

You've got a point there.

Since you are already classifying it as stupid, I say take out a loan and buy the redesigned Viper. You know, once they made the SRT-10. I love the looks better, SO MUCH BETTER, on that one. O, and one more thing why I voted Viper, SIDEPIPES BEOTCH!!!!!

As much as I love the Vette I gotta admit that Viper looks damn sweet in that picture you posted...as for now I remain undecided and will cast a vote later.

I'd go with the viper because you see vette's on the road everyday. How often do you see a viper?

Vipers look like clown shoes, also you cold easily mod the c5 to make it way faster than a viper for cheaper than a 1/4 cost of the viper. My step father was very close to getting a viper but he said the ride was horrible, he ended up getting a Porsche. I say if your going to go that route get a c6 Z06 with some work from Lingenfelter done to it. Also to Kobe, it depends where you live if you see a certain car more often than not. I have seen more vipers around where I live than I have c6 z06s. I have seen more Ford GT's than I have c6 Z06's, one even parked next to my vette at CompUSSR. And I hate to say it, the GT looked Sick as hell!

ok guys i added the Gen III vert to the list since it is a comparable price, but lets break things down a bit more.... and if you woudl go a Gen III Vert over the Gen II hard top let me know you would like to change your vote, but cant...

1. c5 with prolly 50k by the time all this happens... Modded to 450 to the ground with some looks help and so forth prolly around $40k-$45k invested

2. Brand new Z51 C6 $50k

3. Gen II GTS Viper with 25k on the clock will prolly be $45k-$50k

4. Gen III SRT10 Viper Vert with under 20k on the odo prolly $45k-$55k

Now all these are comparably priced... a new z06 as someone mentioned is 70K... for that i would go get an SRT10 coupe...

I love the looks of the Viper, but two issues with it for me. I am 6'5", 280# (and shrinking). I do not fit in the VIper with anything close to comfort. So #1 is comfort, even after I do shoe-horn myself into the car, the ride kind of sucks for me. It does seem "tight" on corners and solid on straights, but more like my 70 Z28 did back in high school... not like my euro-spec Jag did. The new Vettes ride alot more like my Jag, both at 120+ MPH, and in the 0-60 "kill the little rice boy's ego" mode. The Vipers feel a bit clunky to me, everything from fit and finish to shifting gates. No doubt, under the hood is amazing, and the power definitely gets to the pavement, and the looks are very cool... but when I am at 5k RPM and want to jam 3rd to 4th on that long straight stretch of road, I want it to grab into the shift gate, not "thunk, clunk" in... Just my opinions of course. :D

I hate to say it, but the roughness is kinda what makes it american... it's what makes it a muscle car and not a luxury car... no only can i tolerate a lil rough around the edges... i actually prefer it... (as long as its just the feel and not the quality)
