RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
ORIGINAL: blueshark I think Jimmy is on Letterman tonight. Won't be as good as when he has Danica Patric but?.........Hmmmmmm....Danica! Yessir, he sure is on tonight. I'm gonna be recording that one, for sure! He is a very nice young man, so it's going to be a very fun interview. p.s. Here's irony for you! Dave Letterman owns Danica's race team, if I recall. :) |
RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
Don't know if it's on national news but Bobby Hamilton Sr. went in for the final pit stop. it's been on the news here last few days.

Just thought I'd drop in to see what's up, had no idea that Sr. was gone, didn't see anything on the national or local news. I watch the news everyday, must have missed it. A sad day for sure.[&o]

RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
Wicked news!! Theresa Earnhardt and Richard Childress have gotten together with a major film studio and put together a movie called "Dale". It was compiled from raw, stock footage of Dale just talking one day on his farm, with overlays of still photos and video clips that apparently have never been seen before.
Dale Jr. was moved beyond words when he first saw it. He said there was a LOT of footage of his dad he had never seen before. Everyone is talking about how great this film is going to be.... It's looking like we won't get it up here in Canada.... at least not until they release the DVD for sale. We'll definately be getting that one. But, for my American NASCAR friends, keep your eyes peeled for this movie coming to a theatre near you. [8D] |
RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
O. K.,......it's about to begin! IMO, "The Worlds Greatest Hot Rod Race"!!! :)
To start the season right, Who's YOUR driver for the Datona 500??? I'm stickin' with # 20, Mr. Tony, I like the way he ran last year! :) He didn't get in the house, but he was .....bangin' .......on the door! :D |
RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
Mr. Jimmie Johnson!!! WOOOT!
Man, I think I'll be off on Thursday, so I am hoping to catch the Duel 150's..... them thar Toyoter's aren't really doin' that well so far, but I suspect they might actually be holding back on purpose to give everyone else a false sense of security. |
RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
Haven't heard much about the Toyoters, I can't see 'em jumpin' in and takein' over the playground, we got some tough boys on our block!!! ;)

RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
I gotta support our local HERO here and that is TONY STEWART!!Go # 20..Ya know he is gonna Win the whole Show this year don't ya.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
Wow!!! What an ending!!!
That last40 or so laps, had me on my feet! [sm=bounceybounce.gif] I sure wish Martin had gotten his win. [&o] Once Tony was out, I was for Martin all the way! ;) 07 finished in style, on his top, in flames, and slid across the finish line. Then fliped over on his wheels. :D What a race, what a finish!!! [sm=icon_rock.gif] Ya gotta love it!!! :) And where were the Toyoters? Hmmmmm?:D |
RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
That was quite the Daytona 500... the first half was kinda boring, to be honest, but then it warmed right up. This is going to be a great year of racing. The Toyoter's did not do too well, at all.
And Michael Waltrip. [:'(] The dude's team CHEATED and he blamed everyone else, but himself. Nice leadership, there, Cletus! I hear rumors Toyota is very very embarassed about it all, told the teams if they did ONE more thing like that, support would be pulled. |
RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
This, more than any other year, seemed to have a lot of charactoristics, of whatI have found taking place, in other "Professional" sports. Just two words...
"Soap Opera"! Too much media hype on subjects that really have nothing to do with the race. The race was scheduled for 9am my time, 4 1/2 hours later...., they dropped the green flag. Still, a Damged Good finish!!! ;)[sm=icon_rock.gif] |

Bang on the ol' money, I say. I really see them trying to expand interest in the sport, and sometimes that comes at the cost of tradition etc. To be honest, my opinion on the Toyoter thingy is this: NASCAR let Toyoter in on purpose, knowing FULL well it would create a lot of frenzy amongst the ol' school fans.... thus driving media hype... and creating a larger viewer base from all the folks who "tune in to check out what all the hoopla is all 'bout".... Some of it is kinda fun; like the whole Waltrip thing, I am following that just out of "sideshow curiosity", more than anything else... But, yeh, 4.5 hours of pre-show was a tad much. And all that pre-show stuff was a bunch of wasted time, if'n youse ask me..... nothing of interest, really, that couldn't have been properly covered in less than 20 minutes..... :D |
RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
OK... I'll admit it. I am a Blaniac. That's right, Dave Blaney. I know he is driving a 'Yota but, I don't care what he drives. I will always cheer for Dave.
Dave is a local hometown hero. He's paid his dues on the dirt tracks of America all his life. His familyowns and operates a small dirt track called Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio. I take my family there on Friday nights every chance we get. It's a blast! If you get a beer at the concession stand, chances are, that's Dave's Mom running the tap. I also bought two new Caterpillar machines last year. It has been the best ownership experiences of my life. Ohio Cat sent me and three of my friends to Michigan International Speedway last August for the racewith ameet and greet with Dave. What an awesome weekend! I met Bill Davis and most of the Cat racing crew. They are some of the finest people in the world. They didn't have the resources of Roush or RCR, or DEI but they do now. I'm happy to see the underdogs get a shot. I think things will be different for Dave and BDR in '07. Dave is just a normal, everday kinda guy. Very down-to-Earth. He just has a really, reallycool job. He's living his dream. I don't care if he's driving a Vespa scooter. He is my driver. He is the only reason I watch NASCAR. Go Cat racing machine! Kiowa Scout |
RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
Pretty darned cool, if you ask me! Yeh, Dave is a top-drawer dude, that's for sure. Personally, the whole Toyoter thing bugs me, and what Michael Waltrip did at the Daytona 500 was weak in my books....
Great post, my friend! Keep 'em cards and letters comin'. :) |
RE: NASCAR - Who's Your Driver?
US Border Patrol has joined the NASCAR scene. Cool!! Just needs some of those stick on bullet holes and a bunch of kill flags on the drivers door.
