Default 75 emblems

I need to replace the side fender emblems that spell Stingray and I need to replace the back bumper letters that spell Corvette on my '75. I knew I needed to buy these when I bought the Vette and now it's time to do it.

What I'd like to know is what other years these emblems are compatable with. For instance, one retailer offered the side fender emblems, but for years 69-73. My impression was that the fender emblem did not change until 76, but I don't know. So, what years can I steal fender emblems from? What years can I steal bumper emblems from?

The fender STINGRAY emblems come with 3 or 4 pins and have sticky tape to hold them in place. Take some floss and slide it behind the emblem and order the correct ones. PG.

Well, right now there are NO emblems on either of the fenders or the bumper. Apparently when the car was being painted (who does these things?!) they were thrown away. Now there are no visable holes from the outside of the car. So, I don't know how many pins the originals had. What would be my best course of action?

No holes! Now that is a problem. Can you see any holes from the inner fender? If not order either emblem and we'll give you some measurements. My emblems have 4 pins so I can make a template for you.
My 74 has an 80-82 tail and Texas Jim gave me some measurements since I had no rear emblem.

So, it turns out there are no holes and after looking (very hard!) I can't find any suggestion of whether there was originally 3 or 4 holes. So I'm just going to go with one and put them in, unless someone here tells me that one won't fit or something. Another q. I had was: is there a difference between the front nose emblem and the fuel door emblem. They look extremely similar online (yep, having to replace ALL the emblems), so I didn't know if they would be interchangable. I assume not, but I wanted to check. Oh, my car is a 75; sorry!

Hi again, the 75 nose emblem has to follow the contour of the front of the car. The gas cap emblem is flat so you have to order one of each, on my 74 they both are held on by two nuts, yours should be the same. I replaced the nose emblem and a few months later after a ride I noticed that the red in the middle was missing. Seems like they did not put enough glue or whatever on the red part and it flew off. Bought another one and it's still good except that the red seems to get faded after a while. My 74 never had a gas cap emblem so I ordered a cross flag emblem, drilled two holes and stuck that on there.
The "STINGRAY" emblems have the pins in a random order, one pin at the top of the "S" and one at the bottom and the others are not in a straight line either. When I went to install the 80-82 emblem I had the same problem, I took Texas Jims measurements, stuck the emblem thru a piece of cardboard, cut it out and used the cardboard to figure out where to drill the holes.
Hope this helps, PG.

Only my opinion; If you're going to put new emblems on your 'Vette, make sure that they're the "correct" ones f/ the year 'Vette you have. It sounds like you're OK w/ the emblems being similar rather than exact. I understand where you're coming from as far as getting it done and over w/, but if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right, especially considering that you're taking the time to post on the site and research the situation. Any help you need is here f/ the asking.
If I'm wrong, I sincerely apologize f/ thinking that you're looking to "get the job done" quickly. I only want you to be satisfied w/ the job "in the long run."
