I know that there is quite a bit of room for variance to this question, but how many quarts of oil does your C3 take? What engine?

Five(5) quarts of oil w/ the filter is pretty much the norm w/ a V8 engine. There are afew high performance V8s that came from the factory w/ a bigger oil pan that holds more oil, ie; a six(6), seven(7), or eight(8) quart pan. I personally have seen factory six(6) quart pans only, but others do exist.

 

another factor in the amount of oil used is the size of the oil filter...the different manufactures have differ filter that will fit the 350 and some are longer than others

 

that is an excellent reply...thank you very much. i know that most V8s from that era (as far as stock, street cars) used 5-6 quarts, but i wanted to hear what some c3 owners had to say...

good point on the filter, as well...but i think that even from a very small to very large filter, the variance is less than a quart.

 

The 454 I built for my '73 takes 8, 7 in the pan and one for the long filter.
