Danase 08-30-2005, 11:13 AM ORIGINAL: 1974corvetteowner what type of car wax do u think is the best? Well, not sure how much my opinion counts seeing that I sell the stuff but if you are looking for a carnauba paste wax my favorite is Poorboy's Natty's Paste Wax. If you are looking for a sealer or liquid type wax I have a few favorites. The top favorites being Poorboy's EX-P, Four Star Paint Protection and ClearKote Carnauba Moose Wax. ACV4me 09-17-2005, 04:10 PM Ok, "school" me here too Pleaz I was told NEVER use WAX. Polish only ????? I don't wish to become the Karate kid here shining up my baby...... So user friendly would be great! Danase 09-19-2005, 10:45 AM ORIGINAL: ACV4me Ok, "school" me here too Pleaz I was told NEVER use WAX. Polish only ????? I don't wish to become the Karate kid here shining up my baby...... So user friendly would be great! Whoever told you to never use wax must not know what they are talking about. Wax / sealant is the only way to protect the paint and clear. Well, wax or keep the car covered year round with a breathable cover and never take it out in the sun or drive it. However, if you want a great user friendlt polish I highly recommen our Poorboy's World line of Super Swirl Removers. crvttbass 09-20-2005, 09:08 PM Astoshield is the choice of many in my area including myself. No, it's not a wax. But it give you the uv protection of a wax but without any wax build up. It removes swirl marks like a fill n'glaze and make the rain water bead for months. After several applications you won't believe the shine and the smoothness of you cars finish. My truck practically self washes if it sits in a rain. The paint gets so smooth the dirt can't stick to it. I use it on all my cars and bikes. Please don't knock it if you haven't tried it. It is very popular with owners of aircraft. But like politics and religion, so are conversations about the best wax /polish/finish protectant to use. I guess their all good, more personal preferance than any thing. Danase 09-21-2005, 11:37 AM Yeah, find something you like and stick with it. Everyone has their own opinions on what is the best. To some, the best might not be something that last the longest but something that is easy on and easy off. To others, it might be what last the longest or what is slickest or what beads the best or sheaths the best. Mark06 10-19-2006, 09:39 PM I would have to go with Zaino pmahaffey 10-20-2006, 01:02 AM I have to concur with crvttbass on the use of Astroshield. It is all that and more. I get it shipped directly from NY by logging on to their web site. After two or three applications, the paint is as smooth as glass. It beads water so well that you only need to take is for a quick ride to driive it off without watermarks. I've used it on clearcoats and Earl Shieb repaints wuth great results. Boat owners swear by it as well. http://www.astroshield.com/ gorichb 10-26-2006, 02:17 PM I have been using this stuff called "REJEX", and i love the how it feels after you put it on. So far it has been everything they say about it, and more. Very happy with it. Black86vette 10-29-2006, 07:53 PM Meguiars is IMO hte best. Good prices. Customer service provides good detailed information when asked. Reasonably priced. It makes my vette shine and look very lust and clean. There Clay Bar is absoloutley marvelous. It turned completly black with dirt when I did my car the first time. chevyvette1 12-02-2006, 12:13 AM For wax I only use Pinnacle Souveran, it's awsome on red and black, leaves them looking wet. 92VETTE 12-31-2006, 04:12 AM i have always liked the way MOTHERS carnuba wax in the red tin... has treated my cars... very easy to put on and not a pain in the ass to take off with no residue or greasy stuff left behind...try it out you'll like it ... Grayeagle 01-01-2007, 06:09 AM Tried Astroshield out on my black '98 coupe .. works good :) Had swirl marks in the paint from dealer buffin it, took em all out .. really looks nice in the sun :) When it rained a few days later, I just hosed it off, dried the Vette off .. back to very shiny in no time :) -Frank Str8upChevy 01-01-2007, 08:05 AM ORIGINAL: Mark06 I would have to go with Zaino I agree, Zaino is some of the best stuff I've everused. Both Mothers and Meguiersalso hasvery good products. This is one of thosequestions that has many opinions about which one is actually the best. Most of your Cleaner waxes andCarnuba waxeswill work well on your carregardless ofwho makes 'em,.......I think the way you detail the car and how often you do it are much more important to getting a good quality seal and shine. I've seen show quality cars that have Mothers on it, and the same with Meguiers and Zaino, and also there'sUltra Car Care that makes some phenominal products. Unfortunately there's a lot of people though that will go out and buy these really expensive products, and then just through it on the car over top of everything else that's already on it. Ilike tostart off by strippingall the old waxesect..by usingsome regular old non-detergent dish washing liquid, (that's the only time to ever use it).....and then I use a clay bar on it to remove all those contaminants that build up. (I do that at least once a year.Twice if i'm out driving it a lot) Then I start fresh witha goodcleaner waxor glaze. Then I go with someMeguiers Carnuba Wax followed by the liquid Tech wax to seal it all in. Once I'm done,Ilike to use that TurtlewaxICE(Detailer)between washes. It goes on very easy and doesn't leaveany residue.IALWAYS use a micro fiber mitt on mine, as well as micro fiber towels for drying and detailing. Not using the right kind of wash mitt could give you a ton of swirl marks by itself. Another good thing to remember is that applying your waxes and everything else should really be done in a back & forthpattern instead of a circular motion. You don't get those swirl marks by doing it that way. And if you do get some, they don't show up near as easily. Well, these are just some things I do and use when detailing my cars. :D Navy Flyboy 01-02-2007, 09:01 PM http://www.adamspolishes.com/videos/ I think it was Pay2Play who showed me that site. Definetely worth taking a good look at. knowmad57 02-25-2007, 02:39 PM i have a black 67 RS_SS camaro & black C-5 coupe found mequires NXT generation very user friendly, not pricey with wonderful no swirl results awahl63 05-17-2007, 01:39 PM Pinnacle Souveran for $60 is a great wax. Cheaper waxes that are good as well are Nattys Blue, Detailers Pride Max Wax, S100, P21S. There are many choices out there and then there are even more sealants... mello33 06-05-2007, 08:08 AM ORIGINAL: Black86vette Meguiars is IMO hte best. Good prices. Heres the before and after of our Mustang, and the after of the vette: before: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/mello33/mustangb4.jpg after: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/mello33/mustangafter.jpg vette after: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/mello33/poorvette2.jpg bados 07-12-2007, 06:02 PM I've had Vette's for years and would only use "Liquid Glass." It's like adding coats of clear to your Vette. It'll shine when it's dirty. Down here in Florida, we have a "love bug" season twice a year. When driving on the highway during this plaque, the bugs are terribly sticky and hard to remove because the hot sun dries them on to the paint surface. With "Liquid Glass," they just wash right off. You apply this polish, then let it sit in the sun for about 4 hours to cure. Once this is accomplished, you can add another coat. I love this stuff. Thunder 08-02-2007, 09:45 PM I used to own a Detail shop Poorboy's products are great. Dura Gloss polish #105 is a lot andI mean a lot like Zaino the Dura Gloss Aqua wax is Fantastic. You really cant beat the price either. just my 2cent's YellowScreamer 12-04-2007, 05:13 PM I would have to go with the new fukken wax i have found. this stuff is Crazy, and so easy to use. You have to check it out, it is an actual Canauba wax, i would stear you guys wrong. www.fukkenWaxFinish.com (http://www.fukkenWaxFinish.com) WickedVetteLT4 01-14-2008, 02:00 PM I was going to say Meguiarsbut m sure there are better... Meguiarsseems to be the best off the shelf wax you canbuy from the local auto parts store. I dont like waiting for mail order stuff even though it might be a little better. I got a bad habit of doing things spur of the moment so i dont have time to wait. I gotta buy something local. lol Ive used meguiars on my other cars/trucks though and its always come out great! I just bought the Vette last night so i still need to put a good wash and wax on it. I might try mail order for this one if its that much better... Ric 02-20-2008, 09:14 PM My vote goes for Meguiars. its easily found works great and they even have a forum to help you with there products. How could you not love Barry Meguiar?http://www.corvetteforums.com/upfiles/smiley/bling.gif zwaldo 03-12-2008, 02:22 PM nxt : I used it the other day in a shaded hanger and found it to be a bear to work with. hard to put on, but not to difficult to take off. Just my 2 cents. zwaldo 03-12-2008, 02:27 PM Looks like nobodys put down Tutle Wax ICE! I like it...makes the car pretty shiny but dosen't give you that "just waxed feel," you are use to though. Best part about this produce is you can put it on in direct sunlight and it's the easiest i've ever applied/taken off. I generally use a selant wax about 3-4 times a year and ice it in between kinda like a detailing wax since it's so fast to put on and take off. Naste98C5 06-02-2008, 02:15 PM Simoniz is the best IMO..... |
