Help with a 91 intermitten problem
My 91 convertible is sitting in the Rite-Aid parking lot. It was a nice day so I took it for a ride, stopped to pick some stuff up and couldn't get it to start. I let it sit for 20 min. and it fire, then quit. This has happened twice before, she was running fine, stop at NAPA, got part way home and it acted like it was out of fuel, coughed and sputtered, I made it home but not fast. A couple of hours later it started fine and I drove it, but not far. I changed the fuel filter, check the gas tank vent. Test drove it a couple of times, maybe a 1 mile trip, and everything ran well. So I drove it to work, ran fine. A short time later I tried to start it and it acted like before. I got a ride home after work, grabbed the car trailer and went to pick it up. It started and I drove it on to the trailer. Could the fact that it gets warm affect the fuel? It seems that when it's warm and you shut it off it has trouble getting fuel. Any thoughts?

The C4's are notorious for fuel pump problems. The pump is easily accessed and easy to check. Also it could be the opti-spark if equipped. Not sure if they offered the LT-1 in 91. They did option it in 92 and it became standard in 93, so.....not much help, I know, but....that's all I got for now. best of luck with it.

I got the problem to repeat itself at my garage, so while it wasn't starting I checked spark, air and fuel all seem OK. The fuel pressure jump to 42 psi when I turned the key. I then sprayed started fluid into the throttle body, and it started, and ran. The fuel pressure was 40 psi when running. Could the fuel pump be on it's last legs and causing this intermitting problem?
