My 59 has been apart for more than 15 years and I'm finally getting it put back together. We put the windshield back on and realized that the 4 screws that go in the upper stainless molding were missing. I had purchased the screws some years ago from Corvette Central that were still in the bag (a bag of 5?) and started to put them in and realized that there wasn't anything there to screw them into. Apparently the molding is misaligned and has to be adjusted one way or another but I don't know how hard that might be to do. Anybody have any suggestions on how to do that easily or am I wrong and need to do something else to correct the problem?

Is there any evidence of tabs on the header that may have rusted off? Did you disassemble? Do you have the assembly manual?

 

I took the car apart about 15 years ago and there was never any indication of any rust anywhere in the car except the hardtop header retainer was rusty but not badly. I believe I had the windshield professionally rebuilt long ago and it took me this long to realize the screws are not there. I have the ST12 manual if that's what you're asking me. Many years ago I did take a windshield apart but I would not like to do that again but I'm not sure if the molding can move slightly without taking the darn thing off and having to reposition it.
