Default headlights 1964

I read in a chiltons manual that the electric headlight doors have a 40 amp breaker. On a 64,This car had no headlights when I got it.There is about 6 inchs of wire left on the rocker switch, that opens the headlight doors,It looks to be 12 gagewire.Where would you tap into the power that runs to the rocker switch? And would the breaker go between the power source and the switch, or between the switch and the headlight motors? Thanks.

You need to find a hot source with key off close to switch mount. You could put a line fuse between source and switch. You want it fused before power reaches switch. Wouldnt hurt to have one after switch also. Don

I'm waiting on a schematic for my 64 and will get back to you. If it will help you I check out my 64 for wire routing and locations. I was talking to a guy at a show yesterday and he said they use to justpull the motors and put a spring on the bucket and flip them buy hand. Poor man's fix but more reliable. When you say you had no headlights. Do you mean that they didn't work or alot of the parts are missing?
