1969 tri-power for 435hp turbo 400 automatic car

i am restoring a 1969 convertible built in August with a rare combo: 435 h.p. L71 motor and turbo 400 transmission. Would the center Holley carburetor be part number 4055 or 4056? Does anyone out there have one like this? i was told there are only about 250 built with this combination. Little black book says 4056 is for automatic but 4055 is for 435hp???

Welcome to the Corvette Forum.

According to my old GM Parts Catalog, the R-4056-1A (3940929) for the TurboHydramatic and the R-4055-1A (3955205) is for the 4 spd. These are both called the primary which if I remember correctly is the center carb and the end carbs are vacuum actuated as opposed to a progressive mechanical linkage. The P/Ns are circa 1974 so probably aren't valid anymore for GM. But the Holley numbers don't usually change so you can probably find them. May need a home equity loan tho. ;)

What a great rare car. Be sure and post some pics when you can.

Thanks for the reference. I have acquired both center carbs, dated within 3-4 months prior to car build date (i was toldNCRS gives you a six month window on dates, and there was a UAW strike mid-1969 for almost two months between part build and my corvette build date). i just wanted to install the right center carb and sell the other one. Now I need to find a original 427 hood, exhaust mainifold and the rate A.I.R. system before repaint. It is a one owner car, except the original owner (me) was young and dumb! The only change is now I am no longer young.

That's great. Another original owner. That makes at least two of us. As I'm sure you know the parts to bring up to NCRS standards are expensive. [:o]

You certainly have a rare car. Enjoy it.
