Great day today!
The oil pan change is done, and tranny is in, just need to bolt up the crossmember, hook up the clutch linkage and driveline. Then I can get out from under and start on the top work. New headers commin' in on Tues.
I have a perpetual grin goin' on right now.

I canjust now, hear the roar of the 454.
And it's gettin' louder every day.

O. K., 78 buckshot.
Figure this....
A unique prob developed. When I pulled the engine, I left the tranny in, on a floor jack for support. I then pulled the engine away and out, and then removed the tranny. Now, I have the engine in, with tranny attached.I went to drop the drive line from the dif to reinstall to the tranny, and then hook back up to the dif. Normal procedure, done it many, many times. But nooooo, because of the cross member design at the dif,I can't see enoughroom to pull the drive line back so I can install it in the tranny. So now, I need to raise the engine off the front mounts, scootch it forward, install the drive shaft to the tranny, and then push the engine back to it's front mounts. All this while leavin' the drive line attached to the dif. Sheesh, what a pain in the butt.

So what I'm hearing is you ain't got no splined slip joint in the driveshaft? With the auto trans the output yoke is splined with the tailshaft of the trans but I havn't worked on a manual trans vette, It's gotta have some way to move in and out as the car is going down the road. Am I not gettin' what your describing?
