74 Exhaust Hangers????

Default 74 Exhaust Hangers????

I have been working on putting a new exhaust system on my 74 and i noticed that there is really only one hanger is the hole system. The hanger that was on the old system i took off was holding the muffler up by the outlet tip and my question is this the original set up or were there other hangers in the original set up??

On my '73, there was just the hanger at the muffler outlet.

thanks for the info Shark...seems odd that there is no other support on the exhaust system

Well there is the bracket at the cross member. The original system was welded w/ the only slip joint was at the cross member so no need for any other supports. Not sure about 74's but mine '73 L-82 original system was double walled tubing.

I just looked at my 74 and there is only One hanger and the exhaust tip behind each muffler.

I struggled with the hangers also but decided to do my own thing to better secure the system. Here was my solution:
