Default 75 vette won't start

Engine turns but won't start. New starter, batteryand alternator installed during the pas two years.
Draining the battery trying to start the car. What should I do next?

Take off the air cleaner and pump the throttle to check for fuel.
Pull a spark plug, ground the treads against the engine, have some one turn the engine over and check for spark.

Fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, bad coil, points, rotor, dist. cap. These are the first things I check.

Thanks. I will check rverything you mentioned.
I forgot to mention, sometimes when I turn the ignitionI get no response.
Other times the engine turns but will not start. This has been going on for
3 years now. I have a 4 speed. manual transmission. Could it be electrical?

Electrical?, from what you have just descibed, bet on it.
You may have a bad ignition switch. Also check your connections at the bat and starter. I'm really leanin' toward a bad switch though.

Remember that the starteris not a continuous duty motor. Never run for longer than 15 seconds without about a minute cool down. It will (not might) burn up. I learned this lesson the hard way when trying to start mine when it was being particularly recalcitrant. [:@]

What ever you do please pull the plug and check for spark prior to checking for fuel or using starting fluid. I have had five fires already this year due to the reverse order.

Pump you throttle at the carb. If you don't have fuel or if ya do, starting fluid won't help. Starting fluid never solves a prob. It just hides it or causes bigger ones.

I use it in the winter to start my snow blower the first time in the season. Never been able to start it otherwise.

I know what you mean by starting fires with it tho.
