Default 77 proportioning valve

i have been driving a 77 corvette for a while and have noticed a problem with the brakes. apparently the problem is with the proporioning valve unfortunately out in australia there aren't any people who deal with corvettes so i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this on their corvette's or knows of a fix for it

What's the problem? What is it doing? Is the brake light on?

yeah it does that, and apparently the problem is in the proportioning valve i was curious if anyone in the states knows if they are made new or an aftermarket unit is an option.
the problem is that i'm in australia and nobody seems to know how to remedy the problem

hello

I have a 77 vette also with power brakes and I had the same problem when I changed the master cylinder, it didn't corect the problem either untill I spoke to a buddy of mine who owns a garage and he told me that the master has a switch that switches the fluid to either the front brakes or the back brakes in case of a broken brake line , the way to reset this switch is to pump the brakes until the pedal comes up then grab the steering wheel and push the pedal as hard as possiable this should reset the switch and your problem should be solved .

hope this helps

bruce
