79 alarm circuit diagram
Hey All,
I am in need of a wiring diagram for the alarm/courtesy circuit for my 79 'Vette. I have one on order but it will take over a week to get here. I'm trying to track down a short in the system.
Thanks!

RE: 79 alarm circuit diagram
I don't own the book yet. I ordered a set of Helm's manuals and diagrams for my car but they will take several days to get here. Anyone have a wiring diagram that they want to share?

RE: 79 alarm circuit diagram
I have an electrical drain in my alarm/courtesy circuit that is killing my battery. I would like to troubleshoot the system, I suspect that the factory alarm is the problem. I need a schematic for the alarm/courtesy lamp circuits.
Thanks!

RE: 79 alarm circuit diagram
I have a 79 vette also but I did nor realize that it had an alarm. My battery is also draining all the time and the ctsy circuit is the problem but can't find out where. I just make sure that I start my car atleast once a week to charge the battery.

Hi DeeVeeEight, One way to find a short is to disconnect a wire from the battery and put one lead of a volt meter on the battery terminal and the other lead on the wire you just disconnected.
You want zero volts, if you have any draw then pull one fuse and see if you have zero. If not go to the next fuse, when you get zero then the problem is in that circuit. That's were a schematic comes in.
Are your courtesy lights on the same circuit? If so, did you check the door and hood switches.
In the 74 service manual, they show 3 wires from the anti theft relay, do you want the colors and numbers. PG.
