Smile bodywork questions

Have a 75 corvette that needs some restoration. I want to do alot of the work besides paint myself. I have,I believe, alot of the tools already. I want to start with the bumpers. There are alot of pits in them. They are original to the car. I could replace them, but that would eat into my paint budget. I used to have a 1070 chevelle that iIdid alot of body filling and sanding. What I don't know is what to use to fix the pits. They are not fiberglass. If anyone can tell me what to use or direct me to some site or place where I can get the material needed and/or books or other info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

As far as the bumpers go, I believe you are looking at having them replated.
If you have a local plating shop, stop by and ask them a few questions.
