c3 power??
I was looking into a 2002 corvette z06 to keep up with my friends who drive Evo's, STI's and GTO's with work. I realize that the z06 would have been my best choice by far. But since I'm only 18 years old and will be leaving New Jersey and going to school in Rhode Island - The car would only sit in the garage at home.
I was wondering if I purchased a c3 wouldI be satisfied with that kind of power? I was also wondering what it would cost for me to try to increase the horsepower - I have read a lot about the c5's but am ignorant to the older cars. Thankyou.

RE: c3 power??
As you getinto the older C3's, you'll find more stock horses.
Later C3's, like the "Starship", were only rated around 220 HP from the factory. I'm instaling a 400 HP 454 for grins and giggles! (mine )
Cost for horses, more power?
How much you want to spend, determines the HP you get.
The wiser you buy, the cheeper those horses are.

I could pick up a 1975 pretty cheap. But it's only 165 horse power stock.
Here is one that I saw that kind of sparked my interest. http://corvettetrader.com/ads/1975co...rginia2596.htm

What'd you think of the one that I posted? I think I could pick it up and get a very nice paint job for under 10g. I was looking up parts to see what I would do to it to give it a little more of a boost.

RE: c3 power??
If your looking for power, buy a cheap c3 ( late 70's) and restify it. The drive train is still the same as the older c3's and will take the abuse of high horsepower. By doing this you will be able to spend a lot less than spending alot of bucks for a late model. Put what you saved by putting it into the motor, transand suspension. The thing to remember is more cubes = more horsepower, so you can get yourself a big block and it will plug right in. Keep the outside looking stock. It will be a case of what you don't see will hurt you!

What would a project under the hood like that run me dollar wise? I'm pretty interested in doing whatever I can by myself or with a friend, it isn't too hard because of the internet and step by step directions.

That's not bad at all. I have a good amount of money - and make about 300$ every day I work, plus I have no expenses. The only thing is im a little scaried that I wouldn't get lucky and buy a money pit. You know what I mean?

The car looks nice in the pics BUT notice in the lower right of each pic it says date of95 so those pics are like 12 yrs old and in the add he states he was in proccess or prepairing it for paint so it may be torn down and paint sanded in spots??
i have a 350/355 small block i just bought with estemated 375 hp and i picked it up from a friend at reputible shop for 1800. so
Motors and transmissions are easy to change frames and body panels are not!! keep that in mind.
