C3 Power brake vacumm filter
all the books I read on this gizmo states that it needs to be positioned vertical. WHY? It is a filter with no moving parts and nothing inside other than filter media. air will pass through it either way either end. the attachment with the 90 degree turn goes on the top.
what will happen if it is not on the vertical? I do know its use and know NOT to unhook it. If you do unhook this hose you can still stop.......eventually and not at the planned point and not on a dime.

Hi again, you got me on this one gigabyte, I have a check valve pluged into my booster and a hose to the carb and no it doesn't matter haw it's pluged in. Are we talking about the same thing? PG
Yes we are talking about the same thing. I also have a check valve plugged into the booster and about six inches up the hose is the vacuum filter which is on a bracket bolted to the intake, with several more inches of hose going to the back of the carb. The 79 chev corvette repro shop manual shows a pic of the whole setup in chap 5 listed as Fig 5-1 and labeled power brake vacuum hose filter

Some years ago I read about the vacuum filter helping to keep gasoline vapors from condensing in the booster and deteriorating the diaphram. Thats all I have to say about that.
