Default C3 Tires

I want to replace the tires on my 73. I currently have 60 series on it but want to go back to the original size. According to what I've found, it was a F70-15. What is that size in the new sizing lingo? I was thinking of BF Goodrich T/A's, good choice? Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to the forum.

What year? I think that the F70 is about a 225 profile. Try checking the Tirerack website.

Oops, just checked and Tirerack says 205/75-15 is what the 69-72 (had F70s, I think) That's going to seem kind of skinny IMO.

I agree on the T/As. I had some 255/60s and liked them.

I have Cooper Cobra GTs, 50 series on 15" x 8" front and 10" rear.
9 1/2" rubber on the ground in front, 11 1/2" in back.
I'm very happy with their performance. ; )

gcarpenter, there are places where you can buy F-70's but you will pay thru the nose. I am certain that 2.25's will look pretty stock and not cost a bundle.
C3,do you remember what the backspacing is on your wheels? Sounds like you have quite a bit more rubber than my 2.55x60's and I don't have much room with stock wheels

Thanks guys! I went on Tirerack.com and found that they are 225 70 15. I priced them (BF Goodrich T/A Radials) at Discount Tire and they came to $496 turnkey installed. Tire rack was $352, including shipping! A local tire shop said they will install and balance for $15 each, so I'll have $412 in the set. Now get this, ordered yesterday afternoon and they'll arrive at my doorstep on Monday. I know where I'll start buying all my tires.

Stock wheel backspacing, the number eludes me at the moment.

My 8.5" Vectors w/ 255/60s don't leave much clearance to the parking brake cable bracket which why I didn't go to 265/50s. I know I could have the bracket moved to the top of the trailing arm but just didn't want to go there.

And definitely didn't want to go w/ spacers.
