Hello Everyone I'm Chad Byrd My dad Cliff owns a Dark Red 78 stingray with a L-82 i just made some custom white gauges for it i will put complete installed pics up later on today or tomorrow check it out so far tho my dad seriously thought they were so sweet id thought you C3 corvette owners would like to see them please let me know what you think honestly my dad thought of the design himself i just created them in vector format on my puter so i can customize them any way he wanted he thought it was so sweet!, I was going to do a dark red instead of white but he wanted white faces with dark red fonts and his nick name LOL "Corvette Cliff" on the Tach and the Orange Vette Flags but i can make someone a set if they want i can match the color of your cars Interior or Exterior and change the fonts up too! Hell if you really want i can make them look just like stock but shiny black with a little personalisation I'm sure you guys know ideas are endless when designing stuff on computers.
Any ways thanks for checking out my post if you want E-mail me chad@nlcgauges.com i will hook you up with some sweet one of a kind personalized gauges! All in all let me know what you think of my work THANKS!

Chad Byrd

PS: there not really hard to install at all took me only about a hour to remove the dash then about a half hour to install the gauges

I honestly don't like white gauges either i wanted them to be red the same color as the car but he wanted white but my dad also has a black stingray im gonna make a set up like this for that one these i think are pretty sharp what do you guys think?

Im also thinking about converting the gauges to back-lit so only the numbers and dials illuminate like newer cars that means i will take the metal faces right out and install my replacements and i will prob convert the speedo and tacho bulbs to 194s so i can just pop some bright red 194 led replacements in the back to make the illumination even more intense! Butt that stingray is in storage so i cant really get my hands on it right now otherwise id have installed photos for every one to drool over!

Thanks for the comments you guys!

Looks like a '74 Z. Used to be one in the autocrossers locally. Ran good but really rust prone. [:o]

Faces look great but will stick w/ stock.

BTW if your Dad's Stingray is either a mid-year or a shark, might consider using the crossed flag logo that fit that model but after looking at again, maybe it does.

The gages look great. how do you apply them? are they printed on vinyl with adhesive on the back?

looking at the bumpers I was thinking '75-'78 280Z? The Fairlady was an early240Z, '70-'73. '74 was a 260(only year made) with Chrome bumpers. I believe the bumpers were Chrome thru '74? (240 and 260)and went to aluminum in '75 - '78?, last year of the "Z"
'79 was a 280ZX

They are really rust prone like you said especially under the battery tray and the back decks if they have the louvers.

I have an early production(rare)'74 260Z with Webber'sand a '77 280Z FI, project cars, LOL!:D The 260 was their first attempt at Fuel injection and only lasted one year('74), a few early cars were lucky enough to get the duel Webbers installed before the FI came on line. They worked out the bugs in '75 and changed it to a 2.8/280Z.Cheers

PS: I don't know much, LOL!:Dso when something comes up I might know a little about I have to speak up :Dmakes me feel like I'm "contributing" :DNot trying to be a jerk or anything :D

I'll certainly defer to someone that owns one. ;)

It just looked like the rear bumper stuck out like the '74 since that was the first year for the 5 mph rear bumper req't plus the side insignia looked like it said 260Z. (can't really tell tho)

Did you ever autocross yours?

RE: Cool Custom one off White Gauges

BLUESHARK Q: "The gages look great. how do you apply them? are they printed on vinyl with adhesive on the back?"

NorthernLites A: They are made with Top-Grade polyester film just a little thicker than vinyl they simply stick over your stock gauges

FYI
Vinyl gauge overlays are not really fun to install becausewhen installing thinvinyl gauges you need to paint the stock metalgauges white "NOT COOL"so the old numbers wont bleed through and you haftuse soap water so you can squeegee the air bubblesout from underneath the vinyl gauges that basically means once you go white you can never go back.
with my gauges if you want you can simply peel off my overlay stickers and still have the OEM look if desired plus your gauges wont be fried from pouring water on them.

also blueshark

I'm actually a FairladyZX owner myself here's some pics of my 1983 ZXTurbo i built i also designed &installed mygauges in this car too they have been installed for almost 4 years since i put them on the internet i sold 200+ sets
My shop and office is located in Green Bay WI where we see all kinds of weather and these gauges look exactly the same as the day i installed them no fading peeling bubbles or wrinkles!
thoe i never drive it in the winter but my storage is not heated.

Never auto-crossed, but I built the '77 and ran it at Seabring a few times. That was fun.
