Good mechanic?
I have a 75 and an 85 corvette and i need to know someplace in Minnesota area that can fix or repair my tachometer and radio. I tried replacing the tachometer circuit board on the 75 but no results. Does anyone know any quality corvette shops that do good work because i am tired of dealing with the "braindead" mechanic shops around town. If anyone can help me out it would be great!
Also, i just had my 75 completely painted last year marina blue. During late fall of last year the car was at a mechanic , and when we got it back, there were numerous cracks in the front and rear bumpers. The bumpers are plastic themselves and the cracks are fairly large. Has anyone experienced this before? Is it common for plastic bumpers to crack with temperature change?
Go to cartalk.com, look for the mechanX files, halfway down. They've got links to listeners' suggestions about trusty mechanics around the nation.
Even the good ones don't always know vettes tho'; keep workin' at it yourself, and stay tuned here...

There is a local Chevy dealership here with a couple "old guys" who like working on the C3s and know them pretty well. It isn't the closest one, but with a little digging and chatting up folks around town...
Have a chat with the service managers at your local Chevy dealerships and see if you can find one with some "old motorhead mechanics who like C3s".bill.
If you don't mind sending the tach and radio off, google "corvette tach repair" and there are a number of services. Even noticed an article on do-it-yourself tach repair.
The urethane bumper covers get very brittle with age and can actually crack without touching. My '73 bumper cover slowly disintegrated setting in the garage.
