Default ground straps

Finally got engine in and running-found ground from motor mount to block not connected. Made a BIG difference. I have another strap that looks like 3/16 steel braid with connectors on each end. Anyone tell where this goes? It's been 6 mos. since I pulled engine. Thanks Oh, by the way it's a 68 327 4-speed.

It might be to the block and firewall.

I thought I'd seen it in the AIM but can't seem to find it now. [:@]

Don't know if it's the same, but my '81 has that braded strap on the passenger side from the head to a stud in the fire wall. It's only about a foot or so long.

On 68' and 69's, it connected between the starter bolt and the firewall. There should also be two connecting the the exhaust clamps to the transmission support bracket at the crossmember, one on the left side between the frame and themetal splash panel and onebetween the frame and the antenna.

Feel like a fool. It's actually a strap that fitsunder front of driveshaft to keep off ground if u-joints bite the dust. Only ground I have is motor mount to block and starter to blower motor to wiper motor. Added ground from alt to frame to headlights and everything working fine. Thanks for replies.

Hey Tt,
Is that drive shaft loop a factory item? They're a great thing, as if you drop the shaft in the front at any speed, you can cause mucho damage.
Also, don't feel like a fool. It's better to be safe than sorry. And no one on here is laughing, atleast not out loud so you can hear them.- J/K But Really,No such thing as a stupid question. Glad you found what you were looking for.

Never saw a "driveshaft catcher" strap on mine and got new from factory. Agree that it would be a good idea. Always wondered when I'd see a car on the shoulder with the rear end of the drive shaft on the ground, what would have happened if it had been the front one. Yikes! []

I couldn't find strap in any books or asembly manual but soon as guys at Willcox Covette saw it they knew what it was. The two bolts it attaches to look factory.
