Default Heater Wires

Hey Guys,
Could someone with 78 Vette take a picture of where the heater wires come out of the firewall.
Just replaced the heater motor but there were no wires connected and none hanging out of the fire wall anywhere on that side.

getting cold in NJ and will need heat.

Thanks Guys

If the '78 is similar to '73, then it is part of the main harness.

Hey hedgehog, I'll take a look at mine today when I get home from work. I can take a picture with my Brownie camera but I haven't had very good success jamming the photo up the wires, the wire from the foot peddle on this computer is awful small.

Alright hedgehog, I finally had time to look at the heater motor wiring. My car has A/C so it may have more wires than yours. Wire harness comes out of the firewall about in the center, two plug-in connectors sprout from this harness directly above the heater box. One plugs into the speed resistors that are air cooled inside the box. The other plugs into a relay mounted on top of the box. A 12 gage purple wire and a smaller gage black wire go to the motor, black is ground, purple is hot. This harness also has wires for the A/C compressor and pressure switch. Hope this gets you started then we can go into more detail if needed.

78 buckshot, My car also HAD a/c- I haven't had a lot of time to work on car, but I did manage to find the purple wire you are referring to.

It was taped over in the wiring harness- previous owner no doubt.

Thank you and pg for your help. I'll get back to you later with my progress.
This forums Great.

I also have an electrical wiring diagram for '78, so with my unmolested car and the diagram we should be able to re-wire yours to get you some heat.
