Welcome to CF!
First of all, it's a C3, but you prob know that.
The tale is in the vin no.
The fifth number gives the designation as to whether you have an
"H" = LG4 ( 305 V8), 6 = L46 (350), or 8 = L82 (350). Now these are for the '80, and I don't know if the same codesare for a '79.
I don't remember where I read it, but as I recall, the L46's had 4 sp's and the L82's had automajics. My vin says that mine is an L46but hasL82 badges, thanks to Bubba, so I call it an L82. ( It originally came with a 4sp )

Hey thanks 1z87895440120. I guess that it's the l82 it has the 350 but replaced with 4 bolt main. I went thru so much to finally end up here with the corvette. I had a 90 eclipse and bought that for $50 sunk about 250 into it, then traded for a piece of junk mustang 95 gt auto. I changed the auto to a t-5 new shocks and struts and springs and 373 and traded it for the crvette . I cant think of a better deal . I like chevy way more than ford , Also the dang computer in the mustang kept screwing aound. But i'm done with all others, I will be a corvette owner for a long time. I'm going to paint it back yellow I think the c3 looks sweet with the yellow with black t tops.

I also have the chance to get the front spoiler from a 78 full air dam for $175.

Also i wanted to get the rear spoiler and i'm not sure where i can get one.

You can get lots of after market body parts from places like Eklers. madvet, corvette America, etc. and here is a link for production/VIN info. Have fun with your vette and don't forget the wave. Cheers

Welcome to the site. These guys really know their stuff. And you are right, the 79-81's really look great in Yellow. Always been one of my favorite colors for a C3.
Later,
Wedge

Welcome. I prefer the moniker Shark instead of C3. That's what they were until the '84s and later came out and had no name so the media called it a C4 for 4th generation and so on. '53-'62s were straight axle and '63-'67s are midyears. That's just my take and mean no offense.

BTW the L-82 was a four bolt main engine. Good luck with your mods and don't hesitate to ask questions. As Wedge said, there's a lot of resident knowledge here.

When I got the Starship, it didn't have the original engine, but Bubba did put a 4 bolt in it. So, the L 82 badges fit.

YEah I have the 4 bolt and i have the pics from the rebuild. It runs good not the amazing HP that i thought but it's fun .I need to get a new carb after the smog, It has a 4 barrel holly I 'm not sure if it is stock but it is a small carb.. I also was wondering if this was true but they said that the yellow is kinda rare for the 79? They produced less of these.

I have to buy the manual for the car.

I should start a new thread so that i can start asking and make this forum work for the next guy.

Your car came with a Rochester Q-jet. If you still have original manifold then I suspect that your Holley is a Spreadbore. A lot of folks back they put these on thinking they were better. From what I've read, the Holley had all of the bad features of the Q-jet and none of the good features of a 4150 Holley. []

When you start the new thread, post those pics. [sm=Flahssssss.gif]
