Default I need advice (newbie alert)

I found a 76 corvette that is in good condition (even checked out by my friend, who knows muscle cars)....
there's a couple questions that i haven't been able to find (i haven't been inside the car...yet)

First of all, is there anything about the 76 that i should be worried/concerned about?

also, i play guitar... is there anywhere that i could put it? how much (if any) space is behind the seats? other than that, all i have is in the passenger seat....not the best car for a (almost!) college student, but THIS CAR IS MY DESTINY (if i could only get my dad to afford it).

so, apologies for the epic newness to all of this, and thank you in advance

I'm not sure "Dad" is gonna buy the destiny thing when he finds out how much the insurance is gonna cost for an(almost) college student! If you can get by that,GO For It!

not for such an old car though... since it is old, the insurance is dirt cheap... i have a friend who had a 77 mustang.

The one unique thing that I remember about the '76 is that it was the only year to use a Vega steering wheel. Strongly suggest that you read up on Sharks. Unless it has been recently restored, they can be a money pit but they're a lot of fun.

As far as stowin' a guitar, you might be able to put it behind the seats and let the neck (not sure if that's the right term for the long, skinny thing w/ the strings or not) stick out between the seats. Probably should do a fit check first if this is a deal breaker.

this car was love at first sight.... there is no such thing as a deal breaker (you don't mess with the bonds between man and machine)!

i know about the vega steering wheel... in fact, my father used to have a vega station wagon. i plan to send him this in the mail (and yes, we live in the same house):

a 1969 vette buyer's catalog with circles that i found in the attic [proof that he has always wanted one]
a picture of the vega steering wheel, with a picture of a vega and a corvette, saying "one of these you drove, but which one did you really want?
and, of course, my college acceptance letter (to his alma mater, clemson)... where i'm going to college (suits well since the vette is orange)
and maybe a letter from his "future self" saying how good of a decision it would be to let his son get what he had always wanted

hopefully this should make for an epic win.

he told me (in the presence of a witness ) that if i get a full ride to clemson (still waiting...probably yes), he'll buy me anything i want. i hope it's not gone by then...

cheers,
dave

Hey dcohen,
I play guitar too. I have no prob getting my guitar, Fender Twin Reverb amp, and a suit casein the back of the 'Starship'. Mind you, I have an 80 C3 with the 'fast back' rear window. Ya might get your guitar behind the seats, but the amp will have to go up front in a standard coupe.
