Default paint quetions

Hi all went today and got the paint code of the vette i'm getting. The to codes are 59c and 89L. Them 2 codes are brown and bagie. But i can not find anywere a 78 with these 2 colors as a 2 tone. I know back in the 70 you could order a car any color u wanted. I think this is what they did. Now when i repaint this car should I keepit the same colors. Or would it not matter I want to paint it all brown. Also this car has a salvage title. was wrecked in 78 when it was brand new. So would changing the colr ruin what this car is worth. Or pretty much no matter what i do since the car has a salvage title it will not raise or drop the vaule?Bring the car home on sat so will post some pics.
Thanks all for your help jay

Jay, Looks like your color came to be. You wanted brown and that was the color of that car from the factory. I don't know why the car would be worth any less ifit was redonecorrectly. Depending on how much work it will take, you may spend more getting it back to original shape than the car is worth. This very topic (and comment) was discussed / posted under: the "Stock vs Modified" topic under C3. And it's a well known fact if you've gone through a vehicle extensively.
I wish you the best of luck with the car and let us know how your project comes along.

I understand your point completely. I plan on keeping my 'Vette forever, so if I end up spending more than the book says it's worth, I could care less. I want to get the car like "I" want it. So I can get into the car and enjoy driving it like "I" enjoy driving.
I feel that the great and most interesting, actually what makes this site, ultimately, are the very different ways each person is into his / her own 'Vette. Even though someone may do something very different than I would / did, I can find rhyme and reason for / init. All the guys who are going through a 'Vette that they got in either rough shape or in pieces, has, in my opinion, a great and super "up-town" project. There's no better vehicle to do a body-off restore job on. That's the time when you can really build something that's "all you."
Again, good luck and keep us posted. I'll be looking for your progress reports. Thanks.

Jay6776,you can do anything that you want with her. Do you want to restore her or do you want to build? If you want to restore her I'm behind you 100%. But be aware that it can be expensive. It depends on how much of the original car is there. Do you plan to sell it? And how much do you want it.If you want to build her then you can do anything that you want to her. It doesn't matter what it's worth to anyone else, it's what it matters to you. You say it's been in the family for a while. Something to think about. Original drivetrain? Something to think about. But the cost?I would suggest going to some of the online Corvette dealers to get an idea of the resale value of original, numbers matching cars as opposed to others. I think that they're way overpriced but it will give you an idea aboutwhether to restore it or build it. If you make the repairs correctly I don't think the salvage title would be a problem. Someone is going to want it. I'm like Texas Jim, I don't ever plan on selling my car so I'm going to do exactly what I want with her.ORIGINAL!Just my opinion.
