RE: Performance Calculator

Per the '73 Service Manual the coupe = 3404 and roadster = 3411. Both are w/ base engine.

That was fun! 3404lbs 195hp= 15.11@88.6mph. I need more HP! PG.

RE: Performance Calculator

I wonder how accurate it is. It's showing my 1/4 time at 11.55 and 113 and my 1/8 time at 7.44 and 88.93

RE: Performance Calculator

I don't think it's that accurate, I went to some other site and my times were 15.6 @ 92.3and it was fun to think that my car could be that fast.
There are many time that I wish that I had picked a higher HP engine, but 99% of the time I'm just so happy to get in my car a go for a ride. If you can spend $ 5,000 plus on a high HP motor and afford to fix all the things that burn out when you beat it up than go for it. Im just a truck drive by trade so I don't have the deep pockets to keep repairing and replacing stuff so I'm not the fastest on my block, but it gets me there and back. PG.

Ah, I lucked out. I bought my car after all the engine work had been done by the previous owner. =) His wife made him sell it. I'm a military man myself. If it wasn't for you guys and the auto-hobby shops I'd never be able to afford this vette.

RE: Performance Calculator

I agree. I crunched some numbers and found them to be slightly optimistic, but not unrealistic.
I only had 3 passes at the track last year before I blew the rear (pg -you are SO RIGHT! More HP = More $$$$) but my 1/4 mile times were only about 1 second slower than what the performance calculator estimated. I figure that if I had more experience launching the car and shifting the car and that if I also had some drag slicks I could improve my 1/4 mile time enough to agree with the performance calculator.

pg - I think that the numbers for your car are about right! Gotta take her to the track one day and find out!
