Seating in a '74

Seating in a '74
A friend is storing his '74 in my yard, and when I went to move it, I found I needed a pillow behind me and underneath me to comfortably drive it (5'8" w/short legs). Can the power seats from a later car be retrofitted? He wants me to buy his car. Thanks, Skip.

The 82's had power seats as an option... you could retrofit those in with a couple added wire connections, and still keep it "C3". They still had the look of the later C3 seats, but had the power adjustments.

Be mindfull of the fact that sitting in a C3 is like being in a reclining chair. I'm 5' 9' and I have no prob. I just lay back an go. You don't get in a Vette, you put it on. LOL
If the car was driven by a particularly "large" person, the seat may be "broken down" and need replacing. Sit in the passenger side and see how it "fits".
And yes, you can retro fit a newer style seat to fit and work just fine.

First take a look at the bottom of the seat back, there should be two rubber bumpers, if not you'll have to get them. While your there push down on the round parts ( screws ) that the rubber parts make contact with, if they go down then the seat frame is cracked, dont panic, you can install a lower seat repair plate. You can install the plate by peeling back the cover and foam but you might as well change the covers and the foam while your there. Hope this helps.
