take ride up to two hours long pull back in garage smell gas/exhaust . take short drive put away no smell

 

Welcome to the forum.
Check the charcoal canister behind the driver side front wheel. The valve cracked on mine and allowed the canister to get completely saturated with gasoline to the point where it was dripping out. If the valve is cracked or the hoses aren't intact, the engine vacuum cannot draw the evaporated fuel out of the charcoal and burn it.

 

Thanks I wasn't sure but thought about it being the canister had my 73 since 1976
