Default T Top Question 76 Corvette

How do you guys carry your tops? Pack them inside or out side on the trunk rack. Was there a special way to pack them inside, I saw a docking kit for the rack can ya still find them. I leave the tops in the shop when we head out for the day. What say you?

A sure way to make the skies open up and drench you... Leave the tops at home. I was out playing last week and toasted one of the reat half shaft U-joints. Dropped by a local parts store, got the new parts, and went to a local dealership to get it up on the lift to change them. Two hours later, I leave the shop and head home (about 10 miles). Halfway home, the rain starts, the hardest rain I have seen in quite some time... and where is my top? Home in the garage. Grrrr... No underpasses to hide under... Pulled into a Subway and grabbed lunch while watching my interior get a thorough rinse. Carpet steamer sucked the interior dry when I got home...

bill.

Bill ya got a love it, thanks for sharing your story, thats what makes the world go round in our Corvettes. I to have been caught in the rain and I have skirted storms. At first I did not like the way the car looks with the tops off, now it`s just the oppisite.

Nothing worse than T-Top storage. First, you can buy the covers on Ebay all the time for $50.00 or less. My problem with the covers is two-fold. The lining inside is simply not soft/thick enough to protect the paint - my 77 is black so every little scratch shows. They are a big giant pain in the butt to slide in and out of the covers with one person. I always feel I'm ready to drop it. My solution - a big giant soft beach towel. First T-Top in the back goes paint side up - then the thick towel - then the second paint side up. Make sure you use the straps so they don't move around.

The best of all options - check the weather forcast and leave them home!

Thought about the bags, sure your right. I think it would be kind of cool to have the docking kit. May just be like a lot of othet stuff I have, use it once then it`s on the shelf.
