Think I may have a transmission problem.
I was taking the vette out for a nice cruise and decided to open her up a bit. I have a TH350 with a 2400 rpm holeshot stall converter and a hurst shift kit. The transmission was rebuilt less than 35000 miles ago also and strengthened.
I dropped down into second opened her up and then shifted into third. Once I got up to about 85 I noticed that the car started running really rough. I let my car drop back down to about 40 and noticed that when I accelerate from 40-50ish it seems to run really rough. It still goes and all the gears still work, but I'm not sure what the problem is. I got back to my house and put her in neutral and slowly depressed the pedal. When I got up to higher rpms my engine backfired slightly. I popped the hood and checked the fluid level and the smell. The fluid level was fine, the fluid itself was still red, and it did not smell burnt. Any ideas? -Rick |
RE: Think I may have a transmission problem.
hah I think I fixed the problem. I checked my coil to make sure everything was good on the spark side of the house and noticed the brown wire had come loose and fallen next to the distrib. I plugged it back in and took it for a spin around the block. It didn't stutter at all. Going to drive it around a bit more and make sure that was the only issue. :)
Hope you all had a merry christmas. |
RE: Think I may have a transmission problem.
I was reading your post and thinking it sure doesn't sound like a trans problem. Isn't it great when you think the worst and find out its something stupid. We should be that lucky all the time!

RE: Think I may have a transmission problem.
While you are at it you might want to check all your electrical connections.

That's the very next thing I did. :) All were nice and tight. I had my car worked on recently and my distributor was removed and repositioned. I think the mechanic forgot to push the connector back in all the way.
