Got my fancy '81, and I need to spray, I have a month or so to sit on the idea. Always been a fan of something unique and was wondering if any of you guys have seen an good looking colors on a C3. I love white, but they made a lot of white '81. No black or red, in Muncie, IN, thats the only colors people buy Corvettes in. I have sprayed 2 cars light blue already, and own 3 other blue cars.

I almost painted my Impala a copper\bronzy color and I can't seem to find any pictures of a Vette with that paint, but I'm sure they made a color like that around 69ish as a Corvette only color.

Also, paint the tops the same color, or invest in glass tops?

 

Hey DC Theyoffered a "Corvette Bronze" color, (code 993) on the 1970 Corvette. Can't recall where I saw a picture of it before. Maybe someone else can help.

 

Yea, I have seen a Corvette in person that had it, and a Camaro that was painted the color, but I couldn't find it in any old DuPont paint chips. But Cadillac had a lot of appealing colors.

 

My buddy has a 96 trans am ws6 that has an aftermarket paint job of a bronze metallic with some a redish tint to it. It looks good with his C5 chrome wheels and tinted windows. I would bet a color of that type would look pretty good and it wouldn't be avery common color for a C3. Good luck choosing!

 

If you replace your original tops with the glass ones, hang onto your old tops, they are really hard to find if you're lookin' for 'em.
Aren't the "Glass" tops really made out of poly?

 

I love white too, but if you want to stand out in a crowd try 70 Camero orange, PG.

If a custom color is what your looking for... check out that pearlescent white GM is using on the new Cadillac Esclades. It's not a true white, like an iceberg white, it's kind of muted. It almost glows in the dark... and in the daylight too!

DC if you go to a painter and give him the 993 code for 1970 chevrolet corvette, he should be able to cross reference it and match it. I also like this year's Atomic Orange Metallic. That looks pretty sharp and shouldn't show the dirt too much. (Not that we let our girls get dirty!!)
