1984 won’t fire
I’ve had this car since it was new, went to start it the other day and it turns over fine but won’t fire. I can hear the fuel pump come on when key is in run position. I took throttle body cover off and sprayed a little starter fluid and it fires right up, for a second. I pulled the fuel line into the passenger side throttle body off and cranked the engine and it’s pumping gas. Anyone got an idea as to what I need to check now ? Thanks, Pat.
I’m sure you are correct but after removing the intake I’m looking at what resembles two carbs each has what looks like a choke plate that when I sprayed starter fluid into the engine fires. As you maybe able to discern I really don’t know what I’m dealing with as far as diagnosing what maybe happening !
I’m in the process of changing out the window regulators and getting new tires so when I get this to a real mechanic I can drive it back home,!

While I've never worked on a TBI system, the fact that it just quit all at once would leave me to believe that maybe the injectors are not getting the signal from the ECM.
Please let us know when you find out what the solution to the problem is.

Crossfire throttle bodies do have injectors in them.. If you can get someone to crank the engine while you look at the throttle.body injector, you should be able to see a fan like spray of gas coming from the injector. If gas isn't coming out then you could have one of a few problems. Since you already know that gas is getting to the throttle body, it must be related to the ECM , the injectors or the pressure regulator.
The next question you should ask is -what caused the injectors to clog up? You may want to inspect/flush your gas tank, fuel lines and replace the fuel filter. That crud had to come from somewhere.
