Default 1989 Corvette heater door trouble please help!!

Hello, I am new to the forum and I really like the site I have an 89 vette with a heater trouble. the heater door motor is good because I jumped it and it works when jumped however when I change the temp on the digital dash the heater door does not move and the temp stays the same. also the outside temp is always 49 degrees no matter how hot or cold it is outside. When I change the temp from hot to cold the ac compressor kicks on but the heater door does not move. I need to know what controls it if anyone knows. THANK YOU. Bobbo

According to my wiring diagrams, (1989 Corvette with climate control), your blend door is contolled by the A/C programmer via a vacuum actuator. I don't see a motor controlled actuators on your system. If so, a couple of things could be wrong. Either your in car temp sensor is defective or the programmer is not controlling vacuum properly to the actuators in response to temp commands from you.

OK, I got to the shop and looked at the right diagrams. If your actautor works like you said, don't pull it off the case and try it because it has a posistion sensor built into it and you could damage it. But, what I said in the previous post about what could be wrong still holds true if the actuator is working. [8D]

My car definately has a motor actuator that is controlled by voltage to open the hot cold door there are other vaccum controlled doors in other locations. This being the case do you think it is the temp sensor? Thanks a million!! Bobbo [&o]

I think the temp sensor is in the overhead crossover where the little vent is. I am not sure on the programmer, will have to check on that. It may be the control head.

Well, I replaced the temp sensor above head behind the targa top unfortunately it still says outside tenp is 49 degrees and no changes. I will be looking for a control head and a programmer and see if they make a difference. Which one would you try first? Thanks!!!!

Replace programmer if you can find one. According to my diagrams which I will attach, all the actuators for 1989 were vacuum controlled. [8D]
