1989 TPI Running Issues
New to C4 world...... Need advice. Bought an 89 with plans of building a "Vette Kart". Driving the car home last night when it started stalling under throttle. Was able to limp home with about 1/8 throttle but any more the car would stall/bog down. Very "rich" smelling as well. Service engine light on constant.....have not attempted to pull codes yet. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the forums. Never a good sign when you have to limp your new ride home. Start with retreaving the error code(s) and go from there. It's fairly easy if you have done it before, if not you can google how and match the blinking light codes to error messages. You didn't say if it's been setting a long and the condition of the gas and fuel filter. Or maybe someone has been playing under the hood. Start with the codes and check all fuses.
Welcome to forum.
I believe you can pull the codes by shorting the A to B pins on the ALDL connector under the dash. I think you count the check engine light flashes and get the code and then you can Google that. You might check this online somewhat because I haven't done it since I had an '87 IROC-Z back in the early '90s.
