'86 problem
i've seen a number of threads on the MAF but i would like suggestions.
my '86 runs fine with the MAF unplugged. when i plug it in, the car won't idle at anything less than around 1400rpm. is this telling me the MAF is bad? or could it be something else?

RE: '86 problem
More than likely the MAF is bad. By unpluggung it, you are putting the ECM in a backup fuel mode where it uses a preprogrammed fuel curve to match throttle position. Several places make rebuilt MAF, namely anyone who carries A-1 Cardone. I have had bad rebuilt ones from them, so buyer beware. I had the same problem with my 86 and the rebuilt one I used just dumped fuel and gas fouled spark plugs. Ended up putting a new A/C Delco one in to the tune of $450.00. So good luck. [8D]
