Default 89 C4 shimmys at higher speeds

My c4 shimmys at speeds in excess of 60mph. I have new wheels, just balanced and my understanding is that wheel balancing is not really a factor over 60mph. Does anybody have any ideas as to what might cause this (alignment, etc.) Thx

I have the same problem...I think its the tires. They are not new and because I did'nt watch the tire pressure properly, I have a funky wear pattern. I believe that when I get the new tires (and so does my mechanic) that the problem ....hopefully will go away.

What brand of tires. I hope they are not the run flat tires. They are terrible. Michelin pilots are probably the best. I have BF Pro-Force[&:]

You might have a wore out tie rod end. Slack in the tie rods will cause shimmey problems. [8D]

my shake dose'nt start till 55 or so. I got my car at the end of last summer. I knew the tires were messed up. Now it's spring....need new tires soon. The michelin pilots........thanks foor the tip. Everybody has an opinion on tires. But those are probobly the way to go. When I do the change I'll have them check the tie rod ends too. Thanks again...
