Aluminum Heads vs. Cast Iron
Were Aluminum Heads an option for the 5.7L TPI C4? Why do some C4's have them and others do not? What are the advantages of either?

RE: Aluminum Heads vs. Cast Iron
unfortunately, engines with aluminum heads and cast iron blocks have a habit of blowing head gaskets because of the difference in the coefficient of expansion for aluminum and cast iron. all this has to happen is once and you might be rebuilding your engine.

RE: Aluminum Heads vs. Cast Iron
also the aluminum heads disperse heat better, therefore allowing the CR to be bumped up, not to mention they are lighter.

RE: Aluminum Heads vs. Cast Iron
Aluminum heads were standard on every L-98 starting in feb.'86.I guess some of the advantages are better heat dissipation and of course, less weight.Aluminum heads or not,the L-98 will always be one of the greatest Vette engines.Long live the C4!!!!! ('96 LT-1 man).
