A/C Magnetic Clutch Removal

A/C Magnetic Clutch Removal
The A/C Magnetic Clutch on my 1993 40th Anniversary partially engages with the A/C turned off. My compressor has the hoses in front and there is less than 1" clearance between the hoses and the clutch. The service manual states that the hoses must be removed prior to removing the Magnetic Clutch. Has anyone removed the clutch without removing the hoses - is there enough room?

RE: A/C Magnetic Clutch Removal
I belive it can be dont without removing hoses. Try loosing compressor from its mount and then carefully angle it up and put a small 2x4 under it. then using the correct puller remove the pulley first remove the 10mm hex bolt. snap ring pliers to remove snap ring on clutch pulley, again use puller to remove, coil is behind clutch assm, also another snap ring then pull coil off etc, reinstall. it does help if you have another person helping you hold the compressor so you do not bend and damage hoses etc. just take your time it can be done, I've done it.
