Default Changing trany filter on my 92

How do you remove the trany bolt that is in the rear row of bolts under the cross support and worse yet, how do you get it back in. Do you have to remove the cross support? Can you remove the pan without removing the support?

I have'nt had any experiance on the C4, but from what I read in Corvette Fever it sounds like you'll have to remove the crossmember to drop the tranny pan. Support the tailshaft when the crossmember's removed.

Better watch out. When I was taking mine out, transmission came out in a hurry on me and the driveway...Keep some rags and a small bucket handy and work slowly and patiently. Its not fun being covered in that stuff.

Thanks for the advice. I removed the cross support- they come onconvertibles. Then I removed most of the trany fluid through the dipstick tube using a pump before I removed the pan. That really minimized the mess.
